WW2 Veteran Flt Lt John Hall DFC, 91, from Grindon, Sunderland, who survived 60 bombing missions over Europe as a Lancaster bomber tail gunner and went on to become a Flight Lieutentant after being awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross personally by King George VI. John is now helping local youths.

ACTOR Ace Bhatti returns to visit his former RNLI colleagues at Staithes & Runswick RNLI lifeboat station for a feature in Lifeboat, the RNLI quarterly magazine. Ace, who used to live in the village served as a volunteer crewmember for four years and has appeared in many TV shows and films, including The Bill and Eastenders.
