RNLI lifeboats from Sunderland, Tynemouth and Hartlepool provided a guard of honour as former Seaham lifeboat George Elmy sailed back into her home port on Sunday for the first time since tragically capsizing in 1962 with the loss of nine lives. The liverpool-class lifeboat was restored on the Tyne and now sits as the centrepiece of a new maritime heritage centre at Seaham.
